“The eye area is always the first place that women complain about. But many have stepped back from using a dedicated eye product because they think their facial serum does everything – that’s not the case,” says Joanna Vargas, a renowned facialist with spas in New York and LA. Thankfully, despite being a major area of concern for most women, there is plenty we can do to improve the situation. “It begins with moisture; whether you are 25 or 85, the one thing everyone needs is hydration,” she advises. “Most women wear makeup around the eye area and unless the skin is properly hydrated, their makeup won’t sit right.”
THE EVERYDAY ESSENTIAL La Mer The Eye Concentrate
This light, deeply conditioning cream comes with an applicator that doubles as a massager. Use the cool metal tip from the inner corner of the eyes outwards to get rid of puffiness.
THE DE-PUFFER Anne Semonin Eye Express Radiance Ice Cubes
These clever cubes use cryotherapy to refresh tired eyes. Keep them in the freezer for at least three hours before use, remove the cube and gently run along the contours of your eyes. The freezing temperature firms the skin and helps to eliminate toxins.
THE SHEET MASK
Unlike almost all other eye masks, this clever treatment doesn’t limit itself to your under-eye area. The press-on mask is worn around your eyes – much like a superhero mask – so its blend of peptides and hydrating and anti-inflammatory ingredients can treat the entire eye area. It’s a must-have for pre-special-occasion makeup application.
THE DARK CIRCLE DIMINISHER Soleil Toujours SPF15 Perpetual Radiance Eye Glow + Illuminator
Contrary to popular belief, the biggest cause of dark circles isn’t a lack of sleep but an excess of melanin, both from sun damage and habitually rubbing your eyes. This illuminating cream is antioxidant-rich and contains an SPF15, plus the peptides help to restore elasticity.
THE ANTI-AGER Estée Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix
This lightweight eye serum tackles all the major problems that we have around the eyes: puffiness, dark circles, dry and crepey skin. The skin around the eye doesn’t produce natural oils, so the high dosage of hyaluronic acid deeply hydrates – and don’t be fooled by the name, you can use it in the mornings, too.
THE GADGET Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare SpectraLite EyeCare Pro
Fine lines, wrinkles and crow’s feet are reduced by 72 LED lights penetrating the skin to stimulate collagen production. Use for two weeks, three minutes per day, for noticeable results.
THE MASK Nannette de Gaspé Restorative Techstile Eye Masque
This dry sheet mask wraps around your eyes, treating not just the under-eye area but the temples and around the brows, too. The waterless formula of 87% active ingredients seriously hydrates the skin; wear it before or even over makeup (it’s completely dry and there is no oily residue) up to three times.
THE OVERNIGHT TREATMENT Sisley Paris Supremÿa Eyes at Night – The Supreme Anti-Aging Eye Serum
The smart technology in this serum works on your skin for 12 hours, making it a great addition to your evening regime. The active botanical ingredients supercharge the skin’s nightly cell regeneration.
THE ORGANIC OPTION Uma Oils Absolute Anti-Aging Eye Oil
Using oil around the eyes may sound risky, but this is ultra-light and sinks in almost immediately. With anti-aging frankincense, brightening eucalyptus and hydrating rose, it’s particularly great for those with very dehydrated skin. But avoid using this, or anything containing essential oils, on very sensitive skin.
