The cleansing upgrade

Just as the right accessory can instantly upgrade an outfit, your beauty routine can suddenly become more powerful with the correct gadget. The Foreo Luna 3 is a three-in-one beauty tool that cleanses, massages and tones the skin in one. But it goes beyond just a deep cleanse – it’s anti-aging, too. The massage programs firm facial contours, relieve tension and stimulate blood circulation, which not only helps any product you use afterwards to penetrate more deeply, but leaves skin with a natural glow. The post-summer hair essential

Months of intense UV, swimming-pool chlorine and salty sea water all contribute to my bird’s-nest hair and dry, sensitive scalp come autumn. Christophe Robin Detangling Gelée is my hair’s saving grace; it rebalances the scalp with zinc, magnesium, iron, calcium and potassium, and detangles and fortifies damaged hair fibers. Use it after shampooing as you would a conditioner, but, unlike a conditioner, it needs to be applied to your scalp, too. Suzanne Scott

The skin-transforming moisture booster

No amount of sheet masks, SPFs and overnight oils will have been able to counteract all the damage created by a few weeks of sun and sea. In fact, when temperatures are high, the skin tries to cool itself down by actively losing water – and while this makes our skin look superficially plump and pretty in the short term, it suddenly turns extra dry post-vacation. So at this time of year, virtually every skin type – including oily ones – needs deep rehydration in the form of hyaluronic acid. And, for me, the 111Skin Hyaluronic Acid Acqua Booster does the job. It’s not sticky (which some HA can be), it soaks right in (if skin is ultra-arid, re-apply) and it can be used under or mixed into any favorite cream. Newby Hands

The natural brand to know

With so much beauty now clean, natural, organic or ‘free-from’, it can get confusing knowing what to choose. This is why I prefer to talk about ‘considered beauty’, or those brands where everything from ingredients to production methods are all carefully thought through. Which is exactly the approach Irene Forte took when creating her eponymous range of beautifully crafted face and body care. Using ingredients grown on a Sicilian farm in formulations created by a leading organic scientist, the brand offers the perfect blend of pure nature and high science, which I love. Its Brightening Pomegranate Face Mask, Hydrating Aloe Vera Face Cream and Balancing Lavender & Rosemary Foam Cleanser are particular stand-outs for me. NH

The new-season lipstick

It’s the all-female-founded makeup brand that’s starting to make a noise – and for good reason. Code8 has a surprisingly tight and curated makeup collection, where the colorways are consciously chosen to be as versatile as they are flattering. Take its Matte Velour Lipstick in Opera, which is a classic red with blue undertones and comes with a velvety texture that seriously lasts. Use as a soft wash or layer up for a red lip with depth. The skin detoxifier

I love to pay extra care to my skin as the seasons change, especially after summer’s onslaught of sun and chlorine. I’m dialing up my skincare regimen with the Dr. Barbara Sturm Clarifying Mask because it’s full of ingredients designed to strengthen the skin’s own protective barrier and rebalance its pH (essential for healthy and resilient skin). Plus, it’s formulated with zinc and kaolin to reign in mid-afternoon shine, as well as purslane, which helps to soothe irritation. It should be used twice a week on cleansed skin for 10-15 minutes, but we suggest applying it every other day when skin is feeling overwrought. SS
