Ready to wave goodbye to January? Us too. With fashion weeks just around the corner and the spring/summer 2020 collections about to drop, the PORTER team is hungry for newness and on the hunt for statement pieces that will slot effortlessly into our existing closets. Vintage-inspired prints, colored leathers and cult accessories are all jostling for the top spot on our wish lists this week, with established and emerging labels alike getting behind these mood-boosting trends.

Take a rose-print turtleneck by Parisian label Paco Rabanne. A sure-fire way to enliven everything from tailoring to denim, this effortless piece will add feminine flourish to any off-duty outfit. If it’s your nine-to-five look that needs an overhaul, consider this season’s leather separates. From Danish brand REMAIN Birger Christensen’s elevated Bermuda shorts to Nanushka’s vegan – yes, really – shirt, complete with elegantly cinched waist, these pieces are both directional and endlessly wearable.

Of course, the easiest way to give even the most low-key look an instant lift is by adding lust-worthy accessories. Design purists will love Saint Laurent’s timeless mini tote and Givenchy’s faultless knee-high boots, while enagaged fashion fans will no doubt be drawn to Proenza Schouler’s scarlet sandals, which, between the square toe and barely-there straps, incorporate two of this season’s biggest footwear trends. But of course, when it comes to elevating an outfit, there’s no substitute for a piece of fine jewellery, and they don’t come much more storied than Jaeger-LeCoultre’s 101 watch. Initially debuted in the 1920s, this majestic, diamond-studded timepiece instantly made a splash. However, it was in 1953, when Queen Elizabeth II wore this style to her coronation, that it became a true collector’s item. Almost a century after it was first unveiled, this heirloom piece is as enchanting as ever.
