No longer simply a sartorial byword for minimalism, ‘Scandi style’ has had a re-think in recent seasons, thanks, in no small part, to needle-pushing Danish designers such as Cecilie Bahnsen and Sophie Bille Brahe. While they work in different media (ready-to-wear and fine jewelry respectively), the masterful way that these Scandinavian designers combine craft and quality is nothing short of art. So, you can understand our excitement when the two fashion luminaries, who are also great friends, announced that they were collaborating on an exclusive capsule for NET-A-PORTER. Comprised of 22 pieces – from diaphanous dresses and pearl-encrusted headbands to bejeweled sneakers and brocade bags – the collection is at once elegant yet effortless and, of course, utterly covetable. This is feel-good fashion at its finest, and by the sounds of it, the designers also had a ball bringing it all to life. Bahnsen called working with Bille Brahe “a dream come true”, while Bille Brahe, ever the gemologist, compared Bahnsen’s talent to a pearl – “quite rare and magical”.
