Shop elevated androgyny with a fashion editor

The PORTER fashion editors each have their own personal style. Some love bold and bright colors; others prefer to keep their palette on the dark side. Then there are those who indulge in graphic prints and others who pick florals time and time again. Each week, get to know the team’s tastes and style tips as they reveal what’s on their wish list this season and how they’ll be wearing their favorite pieces. STYLE RÉSUMÉ

My personal style in three words… Relaxed, tailored, navy.

My style muse is… Patti Smith.

My repeat-buy item is… Crisp shirts in blue or blue-and-white stripes.

The item I can’t live without is… Jeans. Straight-cut, non-stretch and blue.

My favorite piece in my closet is… Red patent Dorateymur boots. They brighten whatever I wear them with and make everything better.

My favorite style tip is… Find a good tailor. The most stylish women I’ve ever interviewed don’t wear anything without making sure that it really fits them first.

If I could only wear one designer it would be… Sacai: those deconstructed classics and a pair of sneakers are all I’d ever need.

You will never catch me wearing… Anything off-the-shoulder.

My wish list

“I need getting dressed in the morning to be as quick and easy as possible, so my style is simple and uncomplicated. My wardrobe is filled with multiple, slightly different riffs on the same pieces – shirts, jeans, denim jackets, T-shirts; forever classics with a modern twist that all work together in endless, no-brainer combinations. I tend to stick to a muted color palette of white, gray and blue, then add flashes of interest with my accessories, whether it’s a huge pair of gold hoops or a bright or metallic pair of boots.”

Because I gravitate towards androgynous shapes, I look for thoughtful, quiet details that elevate them to something special: asymmetric cuts, raw edges, interesting textures or unexpected cut-outs.
Cowboy boots are an SS18 trend that I can really get behind. They’re the perfect blend of statement-making and functional, and they look great with everything from floaty dresses to rigid, vintage-wash denim. Plus, they’re comfortable; no-one should have to go through the day with sore feet.
I don’t like to feel too overdressed, so when I mix more feminine pieces into my closet – I love a swishy midi skirt or a floral dress when the weather’s warm – I’ll temper their prettiness with boots and a denim jacket or layer over a graphic T-shirt and add sneakers.
