The moment of the season

When original supers Naomi Campbell, Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, Carla Bruni Sarkozy and Helena Christensen deigned to return to the catwalk for Versace’s SS18 show – to the sounds of George Michael’s Freedom ’90 – it wasn’t just the moment of the season, but quite possibly the fashion moment of the decade. Designer Donatella Versace dedicated her new collection to her brother, the house’s much-loved founder, Gianni, on the 20th anniversary of his death. She resurrected his most iconic prints and pieces, taking the ’80s emblems and making them the most-wanted motifs of a new era. It all came together in a show that was bold, flamboyant, exciting and emotional – a poignant reminder of the label’s unique DNA.
