RÉSUMÉ: One of the most prolific models of the ’90s, Tilberg made a welcome return to the runway in February after taking some time out to raise her twins, and has been working with everyone from Stella McCartney to Proenza Schouler.

I STARTED MODELING AS A SUMMER JOB. I was 14 and it was my sister’s suggestion that I try it. I had no idea what I was letting myself in for or how long I would be doing it. I really did think it would just be a summer job… I never thought I would still be doing it now.

I THOUGHT ABOUT BEING A MUSICIAN. I explored it for a while until I realized that I wasn’t a performer in that sense; I enjoy singing and songwriting but performing is too personal and nerve wracking for me.

I ALWAYS WANTED TO LIVE ON A FARM. I grew up in the city, but my mother and father had a farm that my older sister grew up on so I heard all these stories of her childhood. Now I do live on a farm [with wife Laura and twin sons Bowie and Gray] and it’s wonderful: I have a big vegetable garden, a lot of blueberry and raspberry plants, apple trees and chickens. There’s space around us and the air’s really clean. I’m so grateful to be able to have my kids on land and have them know how to plant seeds and grow vegetables and do normal, slow-living things that feel really wholesome.

I’m having more fun in my job now. I have more control and less worries about it. I think that comes with being older: you just don’t worry about what people think

I NEED TO LOOSEN UP A BIT. I’m a Virgo so I’m strict with myself in my mentality. It’s why I like to dance and I’ve been doing yoga and meditation for a long time. I just like to be active a lot… I do all the practical things on the farm, I like to cycle, I go for a run, I like hiking and horseback riding. I’m super fit and I exercise a lot of the time, which is good for my mental sanity.

I’M HAVING MUCH MORE FUN MODELING NOW, I have more control and I have less stress and fewer worries about it. I think that comes with being a bit older: you just don’t worry as much about what people think. I’m a little surprised that I’m still doing it, but I feel really good right now and when I don’t feel good I guess I’ll stop.
