New York, London, Paris and Milan may be considered the fashion capitals of the world, but for SS19, designers sought inspiration out west. More specifically the City of Angels, as labels including The Row, Stella McCartney, Balenciaga and Isabel Marant tried their best to capture that trademark California cool. Let wide-leg linen pants, saturated tie-dye tees and shell jewelry transport you back to the ’70s, when the Golden State was synonymous with the hippie movement. If you’re more enchanted with the counter-culture scene that dominated in the ’90s – think surf rats, skaters and grunge music – then opt for washed-out cut-off jeans, Matrix-style sunglasses and The Row’s chunky-soled trekking sandals.
