3 Ways To Wear Animal Print
Balancing statement and neutral, animal prints deliver longevity, versatility and a kind of tactile appeal that’s difficult to resist. Here, COLLEEN ROSS rounds up three ways to wear the perennial motif for fall/winter ’25
Leopard
The beauty of leopard print is that it really does go with everything. By day, it’s the easiest way to dress up denim, adding an air of thrown-together nonchalance that feels very French, and therefore incredibly chic. Nour Hammour’s beautiful leopard-print calf-hair coat from our NET SUSTAIN edit is a case in point. Pair it with Agolde’s ‘Harper’ jeans and a pop of red, courtesy of Khaite’s oversized cashmere sweater. If you thought leopard-print wouldn’t work for the office, think again – it absolutely can with the right styling. Not convinced? Take cues from NET-A-PORTER’s buying editor, Lydia Zacharis, who is often spotted at our London HQ with a leopard-print bag, although shoes would work perfectly, too. Start with Toteme’s black leather maxi skirt, then opt for a jacket in a tonal shade before adding your dappled accessory of choice.
Zebra
While leopard print is considered a neutral, zebra print exists to stand out. The graphic striped design will instantly take an outfit from simple to statement-making, so it’s perfect for occasions when you want to make an entrance. To ease yourself in, start by elevating pared-back separates with an accessory, such as Khaite’s ‘Jane’ flats or ‘Blake’ bag in tactile zebra-print calf hair. They are easy ways to embrace the trend without committing from top to toe.
Snake
Snake print dominated the fall/winter ’25 runways, with everyone from Gabriela Hearst to Khaite using it in their collections. For more of a rock’n’roll take, look no further than Frame’s ‘The Borrowed Blazer’, which is crafted from laser-cut leather and looks undeniably cool thrown over a logo tee and jeans. If you consider yourself a minimalist but aren’t sure how to incorporate such a statement print into your look, then opt for an accessory over ready-to-wear. Khaite’s thigh-high ‘Colt’ boots from the runway will elevate a pared-back dress or coat beautifully.
