Rachel Zoe’s Los Angeles

New Jersey-born, LA-based super-stylist and designer RACHEL ZOE knows all of Hollywood’s most glamorous destinations…

Lifestyle

“I first visited Los Angeles when I was 16 and I instantly fell in love with the way the city’s exciting metropolitan feel juxtaposed against its beautiful landscape; the mountains, the palm trees and so much greenery. My job as a stylist eventually brought me here in 2002, and I haven’t looked back since. There is so much history and so many places that truly represent Old Hollywood glamour – it’s magical.”

For some real LA style

Los Angeles is obviously home to the most iconic shopping areas, but I’m a vintage collector, so my favorite stores are What Goes Around Comes Around on Brighton Way and Decades, Resurrection and Maxfield on Melrose. Just One Eye on Romaine Street is also a great boutique that is so well curated.”

HAUTE HISTORY
One of Zoe’s favorite places to shop, Decades on Melrose Avenue specializes in vintage couture gowns

For a stylish bite

Cecconi’s at Soho House in West Hollywood is one of my go-to daytime spots. It’s great for a business lunch or a bite to eat with friends on the patio. As a family, we always go to the The Cabana Cafe at The Beverly Hills Hotel for Belgian waffles, and Rodger and I love to have date nights at Sunset Tower Hotel. It’s great for late-night drinks and dessert, and you’ll always run into someone you know.”

For a chic sleep

Chateau Marmont and Sunset Tower have been second homes to me over the years. Book in at Chateau Marmont to really bask in that feeling of Old Hollywood. The view from the penthouse is incredible, and I love the poolside Bungalow 1 – if only those walls could talk…”

LA LANDMARK
Chateau Marmont’s bungalows have attracted Hollywood icons since the hotel it opened its doors in 1929

For some headspace

Los Angeles has been such a great place to raise my children. We have come to love the plethora of parks around the city and spend our weekends at beautiful spots like Franklin Canyon Park and Will Rogers State Historic Park in the Palisades. I never get tired of my drive home along the tree-lined streets with sky-high palms and views of the mountains in front of me.”
