On’s New Activewear Collection Moves From The Studio To The City In Style

Making her debut on London’s West End in Dr Semmelweis and The Nutcracker, ballet dancer Patricia Zhou has been wearing On for distraction-free daily training. “It definitely moves with you,” she tells PORTER. “Sometimes, when things are too tight or too loose, they can get in the way while dancing. I’ve found that when I’m wearing On, I don’t have to think about it – I can just focus on performing and being present in the story.

“One of the magical things about the way the pieces are designed is that the fabric is super-lightweight, like a second skin. They’re comfortable and supportive without feeling compressive or constricting, especially the sneakers – they are like walking on clouds. The midsoles really hug your feet.” A pioneer in premium, performance-driven sportswear, On’s sneakers and gym kits easily transition between a fitness class and off-duty looks, too – or, in Zhou’s case, the studio and the stage.

“I would like to think I’m effortlessly stylish, but when I’m working, I don’t have the time or space for a full outfit change while running between different events,” says Zhou. Luckily, she has a few athleisure styling tips up her sleeve. “I’m usually layering over what I’m already wearing, whether that’s adding a half-zip or little jacket. The easiest way to elevate your activewear is carrying a different pair of shoes to dress up your look or, on the other hand, to change into if you are walking a lot.”

On’s choice of natural tones makes pieces so much more versatile to style with your existing wardrobe

When it comes to On’s collection for fall, Zhou particularly loves the burgundy jacket and high-rise leggings. “The jacket is slightly longer in the back, offering more coverage, and the leggings are made from a fabric that is thick and opaque, so you can’t see through them. Plus, they have beautiful stretch and are high-waisted, so you don’t feel like you need to keep pulling them up, which can distract you from a workout when you’re focused.

“I also love the minimal designs and muted palette,” she adds. “The little details can really elevate the look, making it feel more luxe and standout. On’s choice of natural tones makes pieces so much more versatile to style with your existing wardrobe.”
