Carolina Herrera’s Cabana 2025 Collection Delivers Effortless Sophistication
From slinky midi dresses to chic printed separates, Carolina Herrera’s classic yet contemporary designs are the epitome of glamour – exquisite investment pieces for seriously stylish summer events
If ever there was a brand that typified modern American elegance, it’s Carolina Herrera. The Cabana 2025 collection is an impeccable example. “Inspired by the serene elegance of Delft porcelain,” read the collection notes, “the Cabana 2025 collection captures the essence of carefree summers with a grounded palette of crisp blue and white.” And indeed, every piece in the carefully crafted capsule evokes the freshness and ease of balmy summer days – think smart separates, flowing dresses and a series of sunshine-ready floral prints. Creative director Wes Gordon excels at tailoring, so he completely understands the scene-stealing power of a carefully considered silhouette – whether that’s an A-line skirt, a slinky dress or a wrap shirt.
Now a household name, Venezuelan-born Carolina Herrera launched her eponymous brand back in 1980, dressing a plethora of First Ladies – from Jackie Kennedy Onassis to Michelle Obama – and celebrities such as Kerry Washington and Renée Zellweger, plus a host of other influential women. Herrera quickly garnered a name for herself as the go-to label for chic, well-heeled style. Since 2019, the storied house has been under the careful stewardship of the aforementioned Wes Gordon. The Central Saint Martins graduate shuttered his own label when he took on the creative directorship of the Herrera house – after a year working closely with Herrera herself. With a deft hand and an exacting eye, Gordon has preserved the well-loved codes of the brand, while injecting a freshness and modernity that has taken the collections to new audiences.

”
Gordon’s vision both retains and evolves the house’s DNA – the timeless silhouettes, the signature styles, but with more color, more dynamic cuts, exaggerated details. He’s rigorous in his execution – the exact shade of a silk, the drape of a dress, the line of a hem – careful to preserve the essence of the Carolina Herrera brand, always with a close eye on the house heritage, and, of course, what the Herrera woman wants. The brand notes on the Cabana 2025 collection continue – “flowing silhouettes and delicate patterns evoke sunlit days by the water”. The collection’s midi dresses are a case in point – a sleek halterneck design is cut in sateen stretch-cotton, with a classic A-line skirt that strikes a nautical note, while a ruched, off-the-shoulder fitted style arrives in purple floral silk chiffon and delivers instant warm weather elegance, both would work as well for evening cocktails as a summer wedding.
Herrera still sits front row at every show, often dressed in some variation of her signature look – a button-down shirt, worn with an A-line skirt, a belt cinching her waist. Over the years, this sartorial duo has become synonymous with the brand, so it makes sense that the combination continues to be a mainstay in the collections. The Cabana 2025 version is cut in crisp taffeta, printed in blue florals on a fresh white base – here is the Delft inspiration referenced by the house – a polihed shirt paired with a full, floor length skirt, cinched at the waist with a tonal floral printed belt in a deeper shade of blue. Gordon may have brought a new versatility into the Carolina Herrera collections, but as this collection illustrates, never at the expense of what the house has always done best – sophisticated, timeless, occasionwear.
