3 Trends We Loved From New York Fashion Week
From ornate textures and embellishments to unabashedly feminine silhouettes, these are PORTER’s picks of the hottest trends from New York Fashion Week – and how to wear them now
Effortlessly ornate
Intricate embroidery, opulent brocades and tactile fringing emerged as defining elements across several collections, adding a sense of depth and tactility to languid silhouettes. At Kallmeyer, beaded, tinsel-like trims shimmied across sheer skirts and dresses, while at Anna Sui, iridescent beads, sequins and delicate appliquéd lace made every look feel like a treasured heirloom. Elsewhere, Ralph Lauren Collection explored antique textiles and elements of historical dress through a modern lens; Conner Ives incorporated chinoiserie-inspired florals on dresses and Art Nouveau-coded, faux fur-trimmed jackets; and Heirlome’s Stephanie Suberville spotlighted Latin American artisanship with tassels, fringing and intricate knitting techniques.
Wear now: Heirlome’s tassel-trimmed ‘Matilde’ jacket and Dries Van Noten’s intricately embroidered tote are an elegant pairing with either tailored pants or jeans, while Erdem + Barbour’s embellished waxed cotton-jacquard coat makes an impactful statement.

Sheer femininity
Ladylike dressing took on a much bolder identity this season. Tory Burch, Kallmeyer, Magda Butrym and Khaite all reimagined traditional codes of femininity via elaborate embellishments, sheer layers and sculptural ruffles. Khaite creative director Catherine Holstein took inspiration from vintage underpinnings, crinolines and corsetry to create her most romantic collection to date; Ulla Johnson leaned into diaphanous embroidered tulle and lace; and Magda Butrym embraced a softer side with delicate lingerie dresses and wallpaper floral prints.
Wear now: Magda Butrym’s lace-trimmed point d’esprit midi dress is the definition of romance, especially when paired with a matching heel and delicate pearl jewelry. Alternatively, slip Pauline Dujancourt’s lilac tulle ‘Flora’ gloves on with a sleeveless dress.

Megawatt color
From vibrant jewel tones to neon brights, color saturated the runways. Conner Ives and Altuzarra both opted for color-pop separates in tomato red, bright pink, turquoise and lime green, creating eye-catching looks that commanded attention. Meanwhile, Tory Burch and Kallmeyer championed head-to-toe color blocking, showcasing vibrant jewel hues ranging from teal and amethyst at Burch to eggplant, raspberry and citrine at Kallmeyer.
Wear now: Make an impact in Balmain’s open-back mini dress in draped chartreuse satin with black accessories, or add a pop of color to pared-back outfits with Alaïa’s purple suede ‘Le Teckel’ bag.
