It’s been a week of highlights in London: contemporary color at Molly Goddard, pumped-up volume at Holzweiler, tassels and texture at JW Anderson, and even the sighting of a new It-bag at Burberry – but what else would you expect from chief creative officer Daniel Lee?

And now it’s over to Italy for Milan Fashion Week. While Gucci is always an unmissable show on the MFW schedule, there’s a heightened level of excitement and expectation in the air for the powerhouse’s FW24 presentation today. “Following Sabato De Sarno’s slick and sexy debut last season, I think I join the rest of the fashion world in anticipation of the creative director’s next offering,” says NET-A-PORTER’s acting fashion editor Charlotte Blazeby.

One thing that’s certain? Stylish show-goers will undoubtedly be sporting the brand’s heritage codes across the weekend. Join them in Gucci’s boxy ‘Aria’ jacket, which is splashed with the iconic ‘GG’ motif, or showcase more polished logo lettering via glossy accessories. “I’m sure there will be no shortage of luxe sunglasses in Milan as people dash from show to show,” says Blazeby. “Gucci Eyewear’s black rectangular frames were instant outfit-makers at the SS24 Ancora show, where they were styled with so many different looks, and I would elevate them for Milan Fashion Week with a bold red lip,” she adds. You don’t have to look too far for the perfect shade – try Gucci Beauty’s lipstick in ‘Constance Vermillion 501’ for long-lasting intensity.

A pop of red continues to be a vastly deployed styling trick among fashion influencers, so why not tap into the trend with a sweep of lipstick. Alternatively, start with shoes and dress from the feet up for even more impact. Made from smooth patent leather, Gianvito Rossi’s coveted ‘Ribbon’ heels have been updated in a fiery Tabasco hue for spring/summer ’24. In a barely-there silhouette that nods to ’90s minimalism, these slingback kitten heels will work perfectly with straight-leg blue jeans – or, in Bottega Veneta’s case, straight-leg pants that are printed to look like jeans.

If you love the idea of wearing red but would like to avoid something so bright, try another shade du jour: burgundy. Part of Max Maxa’s Leisure line, the ‘Magico’ sweater is knitted from a blissfully soft blend of wool and cashmere in a deliciously deep, wine-tinged burgundy. The rich shade looks particularly beautiful with gold jewelry, such as Bottega Veneta’s cult-favorite hoop earrings, or Bea Bongiasca’s 9-karat ring that winds around your finger and shimmers with pavé diamonds.
