5 things to love about LHD
Even though LHD only launched last year, the label’s effortless pieces and riotous prints have already secured it a loyal army of stylish fans. If you want your clothes to surprise and delight, then this is your new go-to. Here’s everything you need to know about the brand that will transform your getaway look…
It’s got a universal appeal
Hériard Dubreuil’s passion for travel inspires her designs for LHD. “Each season is themed around a destination. I don’t take any trip for granted; everywhere I go could be the source for a new season,” she explains. “I’m traveling so much at the moment that I have seasons lined up in my head for years to come!” She designs each collection as the perfect (packable) capsule closet: “I want it to be a brand that girls take on vacation; it lends itself to blue skies and sunshine.”
You’ll be in good company
Everyone from Italian designer Margherita Missoni and Ethiopian supermodel Liya Kebede to French journalist Alexandra Golovanoff and Dutch stylist Linda Tol have been spotted sporting the label’s playful pieces. As Hériard Dubreuil puts it, LHD girls are “confident women who travel the world”.
Balenciaga and Saint Laurent were early influences
After studying at the illustrious Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, Hériard Dubreuil went on to work as a merchandiser for fashion powerhouses Saint Laurent and Balenciaga. “I’m grateful for my experiences at Balenciaga and Saint Laurent. I was given a lot of responsibility quite early, and it gave me the ‘wings’ to start my own journey afterwards,” she says. In 2009, Hériard Dubreuil founded her own Miami-based concept store, The Webster, before launching LHD in 2017.
The pieces are endlessly wearable
Known for flattering cuts and riotous prints, LHD’s mood-enhancing dresses and chic separates can be worn in myriad ways. “I wanted the label to be seasonless and timeless,” says founder and creative director Laure Hériard Dubreuil. “You can wear each piece from morning to evening, in the city or the countryside, for a day at work or a day at the beach. A friend of mine recently told me she wore the same LHD dress as a bridesmaid at a Hamptons wedding, to a countryside picnic in Tuscany and for a day on a boat cruising the Mediterranean. That versatility is exactly what LHD is all about.”
It’s been a long time coming
It might seem crazy that the brand launched just last year and is already a firm favorite with fashion insiders, but Hériard Dubreuil has been prepping her label for a lifetime: “I grew up as the eldest of four siblings and my brothers and sister were my first ‘clients’. I loved to dress them up, shop with them and help them select pieces for the new school year or special occasions. They still come to me for shopping tips!”
