Shop easy elegance with a fashion editor

The PORTER editors each have their own personal style. Some love bold and bright colors; others prefer to keep their palette on the dark side. Then there are those who indulge in graphic prints, and others who pick florals time and time again. Every fortnight, get to know the team’s tastes and style tips as they reveal what’s on their wish list this season and how they’ll be wearing their favorite pieces. My look in three words… Classic, timeless, refined.

My style muse is… Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy.

My repeat-buy item is… Shoes.

The item I can’t live without is… Jeans.

My favorite piece in my closet is… My personal jewelry – a heart pendant necklace and two very fine rose-gold rings, both from people who are very dear to me.

My secret style tip is… Only wear things you feel comfortable in.

If I could only wear one designer it would be… Make this three: Khaite for every day, The Row for accessories and Brock Collection for evening.

You will never catch me wearing… Mismatched prints.

My wish list

“My style is classic, and I tend to shop pieces that I know I will love for seasons to come. The blazer is definitely the hardest-working piece in my wardrobe and I buy different variations of it each season. For summer, I like lighter colors like white or gray. And I live in denim – I think it adds that ‘not trying too hard’ feel to any outfit, even if it means just throwing on a denim jacket over a silk slip dress for evening. Most of my money goes on shoes and statement jewelry – it’s where I buy into trends and how I update my look seasonally.”

Double denim is one of my favorite looks, and in summer I do it with a denim jacket and mini. I can also get quite obsessed when it comes to something as simple as a white T-shirt – it’s got to be the right cut. This season I like them slightly too small, like they used to be worn in the ’90s.
In summer, I like to step away from my own style rules and wear feminine dresses with a print, but I keep the accessories simple so it still feels like me.
The shoe I can’t get enough of this season is the strappy sandal. At the top of my wish list is the Nude from The Row. I will also be buying a pair in animal print as it’s a big trend for fall/winter and it will add an interesting touch to a simple look. I’ll wear them with a black slip or go tonal with a neutral linen dress.
I like my swimwear classic. Eres is my go-to brand, and this season I’m investing in a strapless one-piece. I’m getting ready for the beach by dry-brushing my legs and I’m a big fan of organic body oils as I have very dry skin.
