Poppy Delevingne’s AM/PM routine
The British model and actress talks dancing, skincare favorites and the unexpected scents she can’t get enough of, as she launches her second fragrance collection with Jo Malone London
IN THE MORNING
My husband and I share a mantra…
…every morning we say “I am grateful” three times out loud – it sounds cheesy but it really does something to you. It’s uplifting and a great way to start the day.
I used to have terrible skin…
…which changed when I invested in a great skincare routine. I use a face wash by high-tech German brand MBR [it stands for Medical Beauty Research], the SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic, a Sisley eye cream, and I love Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Glow Drops and Hyaluronic Ampoules for the morning.
I dance into my perfume…
…I spray it into the air and then dance in it! It sounds crazy, but I’m a firm believer that you should wear your fragrance, your fragrance shouldn’t wear you. It’s the best way to apply it, as it sits on skin just enough without being too overpowering. I always apply perfume fresh out of the shower or bath because it’s better absorbed by skin when it’s warm and a bit damp.
I do Pilates…
…to energize my mind and body, and have a teacher in Notting Hill, London. I love it because you’re lying down when you exercise. It’s perfect for lazy girls like me!
IN THE EVENING
I change my fragrance from day to night…
…for the daytime, I love floral scents like Jo Malone London’s Red Roses, which I’ve worn since I was 18. It’s the fragrance I might occasionally leave but I always go back to – kind of like an ex-boyfriend. Jo Malone London’s Orange Blossom is also a favorite, but I save that for special occasions as that was my wedding scent. At night, I go for sexier scents like amber or tuberose. But I wish you could bottle the smell of babies; it’s the best scent in the world. My next collection should be called ‘Babies by Poppy’.
I am a bonkers bath-timer…
…it’s my night-time ritual that I find impossible to go without, and I always layer my fragrances for the best experience. I light candles (currently it’s Jo Malone London Peony & Blush Suede), then I use different scented bath oils and body lotions, depending on my mood.
I turn off my phone 30mins before bed…
…because it helps me sleep better. I’m a real bookworm and love reading at night. I’m currently reading Self-Care for the Real World by Nadia Narain and Katia Narain Phillips. It puts your mind at ease and gives me food for thought before I sleep.
Lavender sends me to sleep…
…so I put lavender oil on my pillow. I also have a silk eye mask, to stop me from getting wrinkles, and use a hand cream.
