Comme des Garçons

Since its founding in Tokyo in 1969, Comme des Garçons has established itself as one of the leading houses in experimental fashion of the 20th century. Founder and creative director, Rei Kawakubo is guided by a sense of rejection of the rules of traditional dressmaking and the beauty standards that underpin them. To this day, the color black is central to her genderless approach to design, and asymmetry is still used to convey a sense of unfinishedness that Kawakubo prizes.
