Vacation skin needs more protection than a full-on peel, but now you are back, it’s time to up the ante and focus on reviving dull, uneven and ultra-dry skin with a mini peeling program. It’s astounding the difference just one intensive peel can make to end-of-summer skin, even to pigmentation; my go-to for serious results is the Natura Bissé Glyco Extreme Peel which, used once a week over a few weeks, gives almost clinical-level results to skin that’s dry, dull, pigmented and bumpy. I also love the Acid Fix from Omorovicza – use it every other night for a couple of weeks (it’s good for breakout skin, too). For sensitive skin, the Non-Acid Acid Precursor from NIOD gently gets skin soft and smooth without using retinoids or acids.
Following up your peel with an intensive skin treatment is the quickest way to transform your complexion, as anything used will be better absorbed. I love using natural oils on super-dry skin as they penetrate deeper, give the healthiest, plumped-up glow, and the good ones won’t leave skin greasy. You only need a few drops, or you can mix into a favorite serum; at this time of year, I mix an oil (I love the organic UMA Oils) with a hydrating HA serum to make it more nourishing and help it absorb easier.
Get with the program
Research shows that intensively treating the skin with targeted active ingredients over a short period of time (up to a couple of months) is the best way to make any real change, which is why a skin program makes real sense. The Sarah Chapman Radiance Recharge System kit is used over ten days to give skin back its glow – and it works. Although it uses lactic acid (along with Hyaluronic Acid and antioxidants), I still suggest using this after a mini peeling course to get the maximum impact from these power-packed daily ampoules. For a serious overhaul, Teresa Tarmey’s Microneedling Kit brings her clinic into your bathroom; spread over 12 weeks, it uses lactic acid to deep peel, peptides to firm up and HA to hydrate, but best of all is the vibrating face massager that can be used daily to de-puff and re-define your features – it’s seriously brilliant.
