Beauty

IN THE MORNING

I light a candle…

…I’m addicted to Matter & Home, a brand that bases its principles on energetic resonances of oils, medicines and herbs. Each candle has properties that help to shift the environment while they burn, and can really influence your mood.

I connect with the present moment…

…by not looking at my phone for the first 20 minutes of the day, whereas it used to be the first thing I checked when I woke up. I focus on where I am, how I feel and what is around me, which is especially useful for jet lag if I’ve been traveling.

I don’t use a face wash…

…I only use water, as my skin is very dry and I like to protect its natural oils. But I always moisturize to keep my skin super-hydrated; I am currently using an all-natural and organic moisturizer by True Botanicals.

I do a handstand…

…I only hold it for one minute, but it’s a good way to wake up and gets your blood flowing. I then stretch with basic yoga moves, and I love working out to energize. I do a lot of weight-lifting, boxing and yoga, and if I’m in New York I work with my personal trainer, Mike Medrano. He changes up my workout routine each time so I never get bored.

IN THE EVENING

I make my own bath mix…

…using Epsom salts, baking soda and a few drops of lavender essential oil; it makes the most relaxing bath. Then I use a natural sponge in circular motions over my body to boost circulation and gently exfoliate. Afterwards, I use Avène Cold Cream Body Lotion, or if my skin is extra-dry, I’ll use coconut oil.

I apply a DIY facemask…

…if I’m traveling and forget to bring a mask with me. I just ask the hotel to bring me an egg and honey. I mix the egg whites with a tablespoon of honey and apply it to my face for 15 minutes – it tightens and firms, and makes pores appear smaller.

I never sleep with my makeup on…

…it’s my number-one beauty tip. Also, keep your skin moisturized at all times, and if it’s irritated, instead of using a gritty face scrub, use a natural face sponge with your normal face wash to gently exfoliate.

On my bedside table…

…I always have some Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream. But it’s not just for lips; my secret to having baby-soft feet all year round is to apply this to my heels before sleeping.
