SASUPHI’s Ode To The Perfect Wardrobe
From timeless tailoring to sculptural knitwear, the Italian brand offers a philosophical masterclass in modernity and discernment – it’s no wonder Miranda Priestly is a fan. By GRACE COOK
“That’s enough” in French translates as “ça suffit”. This is the meaning behind, and inspiration for, SASUPHI, which draws both its name and its design ethos from this exquisitely discerning phrase. The brand, established by Sara Ferrero and Susanna Cucco in Milan in 2021, brings together the co-founders’ shared desire to create effortless closet staples for women whose style is contemporary yet timeless.
SASUPHI is a modernist ally for every working woman’s wardrobe. Think softly structured cardigans with exquisite silhouettes; sophisticated, boardroom-worthy midi dresses reinvented in a ribbed knit; tailored pants designed to elongate the legs; versatile tuxedo jackets that can be worn as part of a suit or with a slinky slip skirt. True to its brand name, each piece in SASUPHI’s collection simply balances sharp tailoring with sartorial versatility to create minimalist pieces with maximum impact.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Molly Rogers, the costume director for The Devil Wears Prada 2, looked to SASUPHI when building Miranda Priestly’s working wardrobe for the forthcoming film. In the second instalment of the hit movie, Priestly – played to perfection by Meryl Streep – wears SASUPHI’s ‘Lauren’ coat, an elegant design crafted from the finest, lightweight Ermenegildo Zegna wool. In another scene, she wears an A-line skirt in a light gray silk, which is styled with a soft blazer. As a character, Priestly holds the most esteemed position in fashion; that she wears SASUPHI is arguably one of the highest compliments from popular culture.
SASUPHI’s philosophy of hardworking staples reflects Ferrero and Cucco’s personal and professional lives. Friends first and foremost, their design DNA encapsulates the needs of working women with busy lives: they are entrepreneurs, but they are also wives and mothers who need clothes that cater for every daily eventuality. They both worked in the fashion and luxury space for over 25 years, and realized a gap in the market for thoughtfully designed clothing that would withstand the test of time. So together they created SASUPHI, a brand that makes women feel special and put-together – even when they find themselves pushed for time.
Closet signatures are offered alongside statement after-dark pieces; this juxtaposition, a deliberate play on sartorial opposites, is a distinctive house code. There are sculpted belted jackets that drape effortlessly; oversized knitwear that envelops the body; and an A-line maxi skirt rendered in superfine ivory wool that is perfectly contrasted when layered over crisp white pants. A typically versatile color palette of black, navy and off-white is enriched with orange and a rich burgundy to bring an energy to the everyday. These are clothes to layer and wear together – the building blocks of a timeless wardrobe for work, the weekend and beyond.

Meanwhile, a white tuxedo gown with a satin back drape exquisitely blends the beauty of a Grecian column; a sleeveless metallic silk dress falls to the floor with sumptuous ease, creating the effect of liquid gold. Simply tie your hair back and pair with strappy sandals – these gorgeous gowns need little accessorizing.
Indicative of the brand’s Italian DNA, quality and craftsmanship are of course key. Fabrics including ultra soft virgin wool from Loro Piana and Ermenegildo Zegna are used alongside flannel and Prince of Wales check, while Cariaggi cashmeres, delicate yarn-dyed silk twills and duchesse satins create tactility, lightness and warmth. Combining playfulness and confidence, SASUPHI’s latest collection delivers charismatic pieces for every occasion – whatever your mood or style.
