French women are renowned for their sartorial nonchalance, striking the perfect balance between outfits that feel thrown together while simultaneously looking masterfully paired. And no one captures that mood better than Parisian designer Isabel Marant: since establishing her namesake label in 1994, Marant has channeled that typically French mix of androgyny and Left Bank bohemia like no other.

Marant’s embroidered blouse in crisp white linen is a case in point; an easy-wearing, pull-on shirt with inset panels of girlish guipure lace, it will provide instant lift for trans-seasonal wardrobes. Turn the femininity down a notch by adding Loewe’s off-white Bermuda shorts, in a sharp A-line cut that makes the denim fabrication feel smart rather than slouchy. Marant’s leggy knee boots and a black leather belt by Anderson’s will transition this summer-ready look into a monochrome fail-safe for fall weather.

Accessories-wise, Givenchy’s D-frame sunglasses and Chloé’s alphabet necklace will add understated polish, while Coperni’s petit leather ‘Baguette Swipe’ bag will prove a worthy closet ally. The spherical shape has swiftly become a signature for LVMH Prize finalists Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant, who launched the brand in Paris in 2013.

As cooler climes creep in, grab Acne Studios’ straight-cut jeans and Haider Ackermann’s softly structured blazer – every wardrobe needs trusted tailoring, and this lightweight, wool-blend jacket is effortless, with its looser silhouette and slightly elongated length. Saint Laurent’s sturdy saddle bag, Balenciaga’s sporty, slip-on mules and a flourish of gold jewelry are ideal companions for this take on contemporary prep.
