House Of Hackney Brings Its Playful Prints To Barbour Outerwear
BARBOUR has teamed up with maximalist-interiors brand HOUSE OF HACKNEY to create a collection of statement-making jackets and coats
British brand Barbour has long been the go-to label for stylish, all-weather outdoor wear. Based in South Shields in north-east England – where founder John Barbour opened his first store more than 125 years ago – the business is still owned by the family to this day, having been passed on through five generations. With its roots in creating protective outerwear for fishermen and mariners, the collections have grown into a full lifestyle offering that includes quality knitwear, boots and accessories, and delivers everything from heritage-inspired country styles to technical sporting designs.
A favorite among fashion insiders for its chic outdoor aesthetic, Barbour has teamed up with fashion brands in recent years to bring a directional spin to its collections – and this season sees the launch of its debut partnership with luxury interiors brand House of Hackney. Founded by husband-and-wife team Javvy M Royle and Frieda Gormley in east London, the design phenomenon is renowned for its maximalist approach to print and commitment to British manufacturing.
“We love bringing our unique prints to Barbour’s heritage classics and creating pieces that will not only stand out, but stand the test of time

The collaboration merges the maximalist and fantastical bespoke prints of House of Hackney with Barbour’s heritage outerwear and clothing. “We love bringing our unique prints to Barbour’s heritage classics and creating pieces that will not only stand out, but stand the test of time,” says House of Hackney’s Gormley.
A perfect example of this collaboration’s rural-meets-urban aesthetic is the ‘Ferncliff Wax’ jacket in House of Hackney’s ‘Wild Card’ print. A standout reimagining of the classic leopard spot, this outerwear hero piece is made from 100 percent cotton and features a waxed outer coating, luxury black lining and corduroy collar, plus double-breasted buttons and a concealed zipper fastening – making it a practical yet elevated piece you can confidently sport in the the city or countryside.
Designed to be worn slightly oversized, the ‘Ferncliff Wax’ is ideal for throwing on over everything from sweaters and jeans to smarter looks, and works equally well with bare legs and sporty sandals in warmer months to ward off an evening chill. In short, consider all your new-season outerwear needs covered.
