Indulge In SIR.’s Elevated Off-Duty SS25 Collection

New to NET-A-PORTER, the Australian brand’s take on Italian design is a masterclass in easy summer elegance

Fashion

Let’s play fantasy summer for a moment. It’s Lake Como, golden hour is casting its soft glow, and a chilled Aperol spritz awaits at a cocktail party full of witty, engaging conversation. And what are you wearing? Something glamorous yet effortless, captivating but not complicated. Thanks to the Australian brand SIR., it’s easy to make the closet part of that summer dream a reality.

For SS25’s Notturno collection, SIR. founders Nikki Campbell and Sophie Coote looked to Italy for inspiration. Referencing the stark architectural lines of Milanese buildings, the work of post-war abstract painter Afro Basaldella, and the chaotic opulence of Paolo Sorrentino’s 2013 film The Great Beauty, the resulting collection enticingly plays with themes of restraint and indulgence.

The minimalist, ’90s-inflected silhouettes that are a brand signature – like the perfect pared-back slip dresses – are subtly elevated with unexpected detailing. Look closer at the black wrap skirt, for instance, and you’ll see it’s finished with a tonal velvet devoré floral motif, a nod to the upholstery found in classic Milanese apartments. A geometric black-and-white print, meanwhile, adds graphic impact to fluid silk crepe pieces.

The ‘Illaria’ crochet knit dress, with its swishy, fringe-edged skirt, is the ultimate in travel-light, barefoot glamour. Take it for a spin on the dance floor or throw it on over a bathing suit post-beach. It’s the perfect boho piece for the woman who prefers a more restrained take on romance.

Eschewing the lively prints so often associated with beach-adjacent clothing, SIR. collections are designed with a versatile, pared-back sensibility

The effortless spirit of SIR. (the name is an acronym for ‘separates, intimates, ready-to-wear’) shouldn’t come as a surprise, given the brand’s Australian roots. Founded a little over a decade ago, when fashionable friends Nikki Campbell and Sophie Coote were living in Sydney, inspiration struck when they spotted a gap in the market for elevated resortwear that could transition seamlessly from the beach into an urban environment – think luxe linen pants, silk crepe slips, and swimwear you won’t want to confine to the poolside.

Eschewing the lively prints so often associated with beach-adjacent clothing, SIR. collections are designed with a versatile, pared-back sensibility. Whatever the occasion – or destination – each piece possesses an enviable ease, something that has made the brand a favourite of Margot Robbie, Gabrielle Union, and Kendall Jenner.

But despite SIR.’s international fanbase and globetrotting outlook, Campbell and Coote remain committed to minimising the brand’s footprint. Responsible practices – conscious of both environmental and social impact – are non-negotiable. Natural fibers are at the core of each collection, and the SIR. team is uncompromising in its pursuit of partners who source materials with a low environmental impact.

This is resortwear you’ll look forward to wearing as much as your annual leave.
