As the PORTER fashion team – based in London and New York – prepares for another week of working from home, we’ve been reflecting on our new 9–5 looks. The arrival of spring, at last, coupled with the fact that the novelty of wearing sweats 24/7 has well and truly worn off, has left us wondering how we can hit the sweet spot between elegant and effortless, every day. For junior fashion editor Marquessa Lucas-Box, getting it right has been a process, but after some trial and error she’s discovered the key is investing in laid-back yet luxe pieces with the power to elevate not just her look, but also her mood. Which is why, when a handful of covetable new arrivals from cult label Khaite landed on site this week, she snapped them up instantly.

“My working-from-home uniform is most definitely a work in progress,” she explains. “For me, comfort is at the forefront of my mind when deciding what to wear for another exciting day in the living room. However, as time goes on, I have started to pay more attention to the clothes I’m wearing. I think looking good makes us feel good, and we could all do with a little more of that at the moment. Khaite’s beautiful button-down blouse is a love-forever piece. Cut from fluid satin, it has that barely-there feel and yet its floral paisley print and dramatic bell sleeves bring a sense of sophistication. I’ll be wearing mine tucked in to wide-leg pants for an effortlessly chic WFH ensemble.”

Let this ’70s-inspired piece set the tone for your off-duty look by pairing it with LA-based brand SLVRLAKE’s bleached-denim shorts and strappy sandals. Of course, if your isolation uniform is strictly limited to cozy knits, Bottega Veneta’s slimline scoop-neck style makes for a chic substitute. Either way, be sure to finish your look with a flourish – Valentino’s dazzling aquamarine earring turns dressing from the waist up into a fine art.
