Whether you’re heading abroad this summer or opting for a staycation, deciding what to take with you is all part of the excitement. Packing smart is every fashion editor’s secret skill – and the PORTER fashion team has picked up quite a few tips along the way. Firstly, it is always wise to bring a day-to-night dress, such as Proenza Schouler’s sand-colored floral maxi. Paired with flat sandals and a basket bag, it’s perfect for afternoon activities. Add a kitten heel, a leather clutch and statement earrings (like this eye-catching pair by Bottega Veneta that combine dazzling crystals with a cool white enamel, making them day- and evening-appropriate) and you’re ready for an evening engagement. Easy layers are also vital – just don’t overdo it; a chic cardigan in a neutral hue will work as the perfect cover-up when temperatures dip. Add some denim cut-offs and a swimsuit (ideally one that will also work as an evening top with jeans), et voilà – your lightweight capsule closet is complete.

If you’re staying put this summer, versatile pieces are still a no-brainer. With this in mind, fashion assistant Sabina Khan is eyeing up these elegant Nanushka co-ords that work just as well for warm weather as they will next season.

“With fall around the corner, I’m always naturally attracted to autumnal shades of brown and beige at this time of year. It’s not always easy to decide on the right outfit during transitional stages in the season – one minute it’s hot, the next it’s cold – but this glossy chocolate Nanushka look is casual yet elegant and works perfectly for warm or cooler days. The cropped top with low neckline means you can still show off that summer tan, but, with long sleeves and a midi-length skirt, it’s ‘covered up’ enough in case it gets chilly. The pockets and belt loops give it a down-to-earth feel, while the sleek satin fabric elevates it. I’ll style mine with strappy sandals, gold jewelry and a tonal clutch. On off-duty days, I’ll mix it up by wearing the top with some off-white denim and pool slides. And for more formal occasions, I’ll wear the skirt with a crisp white shirt or tee and heeled pumps. The options are endless!”
