“A makeup-artist friend taught me that the secret to a lasting suntan is to prep the skin in advance. So, a few weeks before any holiday in the sun, I begin a daily routine of sloughing away dead skin with a dry brush, such as Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Body Brush Soft No. 1. Not only does dry brushing exfoliate, but it has the added benefit of stimulating circulation and helping to increase blood flow. After brushing, I use a moisturizing cream, such as La Mer’s iconic The Body Crème, to banish dehydration, renew and tone my skin. Once my ‘out-of-office’ is on, sun cream is vital. Sisley Paris’s range uses UVA and UVB filters, meaning I’m protected against both the sun and photo-aging. After a long day at the beach, enter Diptyque’s ‘Satin Oil’, a multifunctional oil that can be used on hair and body – which means all the more room in my suitcase for clothes. Finally, as a sleep-obsessive, I always travel with a silk eye mask. It’s perfect for blocking out the dawn light of another sunny day. Paradise!”

“Alongside a good supply of SPF, I now always pack the Oribe Hair Alchemy Strengthening Masque – a lifesaver for my dry, bleached lengths and ends. A beautifully scented, deeply nourishing hair treatment, I apply it from mid-lengths downwards, and then twist it up for a day at the beach or pool for an extra intensive treat. Use this every few days on vacation and you’ll come back with hair in better condition that when you left. For my skin, this year I’m packing Westman Atelier’s amazing new Suprême C Serum. A super-potent, Japanese-made vitamin C, it’s perfect to use for its power-packed antioxidant protection and repair abilities – plus, it helps fade pigmentation. Another hot-weather travel essential is Augustinus Bader’s The Face Mist. A skin-nourishing blend of vitamins, hyaluronic acid and rose water, it’s perfect to use pre-makeup and to refresh and treat the skin throughout the day. Finally, a new addition to my must-haves this year is U Beauty’s The Super Intensive Face Oil. Silky, nourishing and ultra-hydrating, it soothes and plumps up jet-lagged or dry skin and achieves amazingly good results.”

“When traveling, my tendancy is to take all my can’t-live-withouts with me. But, over the years, I’ve learned to whittle them down to a select few items that can truly multi-task and work for day, night, beach or bar. As someone with very sensitive skin, my first port of call (after La Mer’s The Broad Spectrum SPF50 UV Protecting Fluid) is a serum that works for everyday use, but also as a skin SOS for sun-, sand- and heat-overload. MZ Skin’s new Calming Rescue Serum is the winner here. It hydrates, soothes, protects against free radicals and visibly reduces redness (I add a few more layers when using as a post-sun salve). Next, a good face mist, like La Prairie’s Skin Caviar Mist, works under and over makeup – it is great for refreshing skin while on the airplane, as well as for hydrating top-ups when sightseeing or sunbathing. A new addition to my travel kit this year is Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Glow Cream – it’s your glow drops and hyaluronic-acid serum in one, for instantly plumped-up skin with natural-looking radiance. For added luminosity, a slick of Westman Atelier’s Lit Up Highlight Stick in Nectar (a sheer golden peach) on the tops of my cheekbones, the center of my eyelids and even on lips, paired with two generous coats of Hermès Beauty’s Trait d’Hermès Volume Mascara, is my go-to hot-weather daytime look – while Westman Atelier’s Lip Suede Matte Lipstick ( I love LFG, a bright fuchsia) delivers an instant hit of glam in the evening. Finally, Augustinus Bader’s The Hair Oil is equally part daily essential (use a few drops on dry hair), part protecting treatment (I slick it all over, from root to tips, before a pool or salt-water dip.) Save for the face mist, which I keep with me when traveling, everything goes in Anya Hindmarch’s new transparent ‘Double Decker’ cosmetics case for easy, visible access.

“MZ Skin’s Anti-Pollution Hydrating Face Mask is one of my top recent travel essentials (second only to all-important SPF) and came recommended by NET-A-PORTER’s contributing global beauty director. Perfect for popping on after a day at the beach (store it chilled in the minibar), it instantly cools you down, restores skin’s moisture and bring a glow back to sun-soaked skin. I smooth on one of my favorite face serums (I’m obsessed with the plumping goodness of Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare’s Derminfusions Fill + Repair Serum), then pop the mask on to help it really penetrate. I also apply a generous amount of SPF50 to my face every day, and Noble Panacea’s The Energist Multi-Defence Cream SPF50 is wonderful for adding a moisture boost to help counteract the drying effects of air-con and pool chlorine. I also try my best to keep my face out of the sun – Brunello Cucinelli’s bucket hat comes in useful here. Lastly, no vacation cosmetics case is complete without a summer fragrance, one that will instantly evoke blissful vacation memories in a single spritz once you’re back home. Le Labo’s Santal 33 Eau de Parfum is one of my go-tos, and also comes in a 15ml size is ideal for squeezing into my carry-on.”

“My absolute must on vacation has to be Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Sun Drops SPF50 – it offers a sheer finish so you can wear it alone on bare skin or mix it with your moisturiser or tinted foundation, making it perfect for a city break or beach escape. Even though I try my best to stay well covered in the sun, I always follow up with a vitamin C serum to help prevent pigmentation, and my go-to is 111Skin’s Vitamin C Brightening Booster. For an evening or day out exploring, my aim is a sun-kissed look that requires minimal effort. Charlotte Tilbury’s new Beautiful Skin Sun-Kissed Glow Bronzers are perfect for this, delivering a great cream texture that’s buildable to enhance your natural complexion in all the right places. I can’t live without a mascara, too, and always look for one with a silicone brush, as I find it really lengthens the lashes without clumping. My favorite is the Hourglass Unlocked Instant Extensions Mascara – a lifesaver for tired-looking eyes.”
