Dynamic, timeless, and always elegant, here is a vision that evolves with confidence and conviction – that prizes experimentation, while preserving authenticity. References to menswear are seen alongside unashamed romance; and impeccable suiting is renewed with injections of bold color. Alexander McQueen’s creative director, Sarah Burton, found inspiration, she says, in the work of English poet, painter and printmaker William Blake, affording the collection a magical touch.
Lee Alexander McQueen’s Spring/Summer 1997 collection, La Poupée, is also part of the narrative: silver zippers splice the slender arms and sharp shoulders of perfectly cut blazers and the legs of cigarette pants. Styled with ankle boots with a slim sculptural heel, the effect is both functional and fashionable.
One single-breasted tailored jacket comes slit at the shoulders and arms, adding a rebellious spirit to classic suiting. Styled with a pair of the slim-cut, high-waisted, matching zippered pants and a pair of fine-heeled ankle boots, you have a look that lends a directional feel to workwear.
Elsewhere, a zip-fronted cerulean-blue shirt dress comes with exploded proportions – parachute sleeves and an overblown skirt reinvent a wardrobe archetype. More ankle boots, a neat, top-handle bag and a statement necklace finish the look.

Denim separates are similarly elevated . A classic trucker jacket has a rib-knit shawl collar and a peplum waist – an off-duty staple reimagined, it is designed to be worn with a fluted denim skirt and knee boots. A knit dress is buttoned asymmetrically and has a fluted hem, shawl lapels and folded chunky cuffs.
Highlights of new-season outerwear include a navy wool coat with ruffled lapels and classic epaulette detailing. A broad leather waist belt enhances its refined silhouette.
