To this day, every pair of René Caovilla shoes continues to be handcrafted in 48 hours in the label’s Italian atelier – each step in the production process is carried out to the highest level to eliminate even the slightest imperfection, using artisanal techniques and secrets of the trade that have been passed down from generation to generation. As a mark of respect for his achievements in the fashion world and economic contributions to the country, René was awarded the honorable title of Cavaliere del lavoro by the Italian Order of Merit for Labour in 2001, establishing his position as one of Italy’s great footwear masters.
