It’s no secret that brightly colored clothing is a perennial summer favorite. Yet most self-identifying minimalists might think that vivacious hues don’t complement their more muted aesthetic. This season, however, they couldn’t be more wrong. Sorbet shades mixed with popping brights offer a palate cleanser for the new season, reinterpreting crisp tailoring and understated separates with a jovial mood that feels right for now.

Case in point: body-sculpting fuchsia co-ords by Jacquemus. Bright-pink cycling shorts and a crop top might sound like a daunting sartorial proposition, but, paired with the designer’s graphic take on a classic neutral blazer and finished with luxe accessories (Bottega Veneta’s signature interacciato handbags and Jimmy Choo’s sculptural mules are top of our wish list right now), these sports-inflected pieces make for an uplifting and decidedly contemporary take on day-to-night dressing.

If it’s your off-duty look that could do with an overhaul, let Jacquemus’s statement jacket set the tone for your entire look by layering it over a camel-colored knit crop top for a directional take on tonal dressing. Tan and gold accessories perfectly warm up the icy palette: grab The Row’s neat ‘Half Moon’ bag and slip on a flat sandal from A Emery’s collaboration with Aussie swim brand Matteau. A single diamond-drop earring and a pair of oversized sunglasses will add effortless polish – no matter where you’re headed.
