New collection: Stuart Weitzman
From brilliant boots to stylish sandals, STUART WEITZMAN has your FW19 footwear wish list covered
FW19 is a landmark season for accessories label Stuart Weitzman; not only is it the first under the watchful eye of newly appointed Global Head of Design, Edmundo Castillo, a former alum of brands including Tod’s and Sergio Rossi, it was also the first time in the label’s history that its new collection was unveiled as part of Milan Fashion Week.
The move cements the New York-based brand’s luxury fashion credentials. It’s been making shoes for decades and has become a red-carpet staple worn by pretty much every stylish star worth mentioning: Cara Delevingne, Kendall Jenner, Viola Davis and Gigi Hadid are all avid fans.
But while the label definitely knows how to turn out the perfect shoe to round off a statement-making outfit, Stuart Weitzman’s global popularity can be chalked up to something more down to earth. The brand has long been synonymous with the holy grail of shoes: stylish, just-directional-enough shapes that are timeless, versatile and, most importantly, comfortable. They are the kinds of shoes that you wear day-to-day, season after season, and that will take you from the boardroom to an evening out and everywhere in between.

The FW19 collection has a futuristic-meets-feminine mood, peppered with sculptural shapes and unexpected details, and Castillo has riffed on the label’s greatest hits and given them a modern twist. The upshot? No matter what your sartorial inclinations are, the collection has every aspect of getting dressed covered. There are over-the-knee boots (a Stuart Weitzman staple) – thigh-skimming and block-heeled – that are the perfect blend of classic and cool and the perfect match for everything from high-impact midi dresses to the midi skirts that make your working wardrobe tick. There are ankle boots, too, in slim-fit suede and with a skinny but not too-towering heel that you’ll want to wear with everything over the coming months, and studded lace-ups with punk overtones that you can clomp your way through fall in.

And if you’re in need of something more refined, whether it’s to elevate your favorite denim or to add understated glamour to your after-dark looks, then you’ll want to stock up on the latest crop of sandals; everything from the leather ‘Merinda’ stilettos that wrap elegantly around your ankles and will add polish to anything you pair them with, to the perennially stylish ‘Simple’ sandals, which will give you a lift but are low enough to wear from morning to night.
