Most Wanted: The Modern Prairie Update
A curated roundup of trending arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
Boho has undergone quite the transformation in recent seasons, evolving from the ethereal, romantic take first introduced by Chloé’s Chemena Kamali in 2024 to something altogether more rustic and folkloric. The great outdoors undoubtedly inspired designers this season, with checked shirts, prairie dresses, Fair Isle knits, Western boots and an abundance of fringing seen across the runways at Auralee, Dries Van Noten, Gabriela Hearst and Chloé, to name a few. There was a real focus on craft, too — think homespun crochet, handcrafted knits and artful embroidery — that made every piece feel one-of-a-kind.
“It’s the Year of the Horse, more specifically, the Fire Horse, and designers were clearly inspired, with Western, nomadic and folk influences woven throughout the fall/winter 2026 collections. The approach was eclectic, creating a rich tapestry of vintage Americana influences,” says NET-A-PORTER’s commerce content editor, Abbi Minchin. “Depending on your fashion persona, add something floral, checked or Fair Isle to your wardrobe for an easy win or, if you’re print-averse, try playing with textures instead. For me, checks and cable knits will be particularly key this season – ideally styled together, with one or the other wrapped around the waist – and paired back with denim and suede.”

Follow Minchin’s lead by picking up God’s True Cashmere’s checked cashmere-twill ‘Nomad’ shirt and Gucci’s horsebit-embellished flared jeans. Add Saint Laurent’s funnel-neck bomber jacket for an extra dose of cool and, of course, cowboy boots — choose between Khaite’s rugged ‘Clive’ pair and Polo Ralph Lauren’s sleek ankle boots for a more polished take.
Minchin’s accessory of choice? “My favorite take on this trend is the belts. From Chloé’s statement horse buckles to the more pared-back oval shapes seen at Nili Lotan, TWP and Polo Ralph Lauren, it’s another great way to embrace the look if you’re not one to go full throttle,” she says. “Personally, the latter is more my style, but I can’t wait to see the Chloé belt out in the wild.”
Alternatively, channel true frontierswoman energy with Chloé’s checked silk-mousseline skirt. A runway highlight, it falls in soft tiers, each traced with ruffles that create beautiful movement. Echo the show styling by adding a pair of the brand’s embroidered ‘Azelan’ boots and an oversized blazer or try teaming it with Nili Lotan’s ‘Eloi’ jacket in fringed suede. For finishing touches, reach for Saint Laurent’s fuzzy shearling ‘Icarino’ bag and a piece of artisanal, vintage-inspired jewelry. Juju Vera’s gold vermeil cuff, topped with a trio of tiger’s-eye cabochons, is exclusive to NET-A-PORTER.
