5 Trends We Spotted On The Oscars Red Carpet
Undoubtedly the biggest night of the awards-season calendar, the Oscars 2026 brought together Hollywood’s best-known names for an evening of statuettes, speeches and all-out glamour. Read on for the trends we loved…
High shine
Oscar nominees Emma Stone, Wunmi Mosaku, Kate Hudson and Elle Fanning lit up the red carpet in shimmering gowns that caught the flash of the cameras as they walked. Styled by Petra Flannery, Stone opted for a custom, Regency-inspired look by Louis Vuitton, paired with little more than tiny diamond earrings and a pretty rose-pink lip. Meanwhile, Mosaku dazzled in a glittering green custom Louis Vuitton look, as she cradled her baby bump. Last but by no means least, Sentimental Value star Elle Fanning embraced old Hollywood glamour in a corseted tulle dress by Givenchy, intricately embroidered with satin-stitched silver wisteria.

Feathers
Feathers were undoubtedly the most-talked about trend of the night, with Nicole Kidman, Teyana Taylor (both in Chanel), Demi Moore and Best Supporting Actress winner Amy Madigan all opting for feather-strewn ensembles. Moore and longtime stylist Brad Goreski collaborated with Demna at Gucci on a stunning gradient green and black gown, complete with face-framing plumes, a scaled bodice and fishtail hem. Elsewhere, actor Vicky Krieps was the picture of modern elegance in a floor-length black feathered dress by Louise Trotter at Bottega Veneta.

Color blocking
As well as winning her first Academy Award for her role as Agnes in Hamnet, Jessie Buckley also won the red carpet in yet another custom Chanel gown. Inspired by Grace Kelly’s 1956 Oscars look, Buckley’s dress, made from swathes of pastel pink chiffon with a contrasting red satin stole (and matching red lip by makeup artist Nina Park), was a masterclass in modern color blocking. PORTER cover star Ji-young Yoo also embraced the trend in a bow-tipped tonal-blue Carolina Herrera gown.

Dark romance
There was an undeniable mood for dark romance on the red carpet, with nocturnal floral embroideries, intricate lace and opulent textures taking center stage. Anne Hathaway, who co-presented the award for Best Costume Design alongside Anna Wintour, and Marty Supreme leading lady Odessa A’zion both chose beautifully embroidered runway looks by Valentino Garavani. First-time Oscar nominee Rose Byrne also got the floral memo in a custom gown by Dior, while former PORTER cover star Zoe Saldaña graced the red carpet in a figure-skimming lace-detailed black dress by Saint Laurent.

Pastels
Among the darker jewel tones of the evening were pastels. One Battle After Another’s Chase Infiniti made a show-stopping entrance in a custom lavender Louis Vuitton gown with a ruffled skirt. Infiniti and her stylists, Wayman + Micah, complemented the soft tone of the dress with a yellow cushion-cut diamond necklace by De Beers and soft makeup. Joining Infiniti in another sherbet tone was Felicity Jones, in a lemon-yellow design by Prada, detailed with bead embellishments and a tulle train.
