Fall’s 3 standout beauty looks to try now

Tom Ford

Sometimes, a look can transcend a fashion season, and the recent fall/winter shows are inspiring us to reach inside our makeup bags. Here, DANIELLE FOX highlights her favorite FW20 beauty looks to try now

The TAN SMOKY EYE

While classic smoky eyes are the hallmark of autumnal party makeup, for spring, take inspiration from the recent Tom Ford fall show and – rather than opting for classic black – make things more interesting and flattering with a copper. Creating this standout smoky tanned eye requires some prep work. To get the look, makeup artists used the gold shadow in Tom Ford Beauty Eye Color Quad Suspicion for light skin tones, and the gold shadow in his Eye Color Quad African Violet for darker skin tones. We love how this eye works so well with a highlighted cheek and sun-blushed skin.

The POPPY LIP

Warm crimson lips with orange undertones look particularly beautiful against warmer olive skin, medium tones and post-vacation skin. Which is why Tom Pecheux, who created this crisp lip look, found a happy medium between a pure-red and an orange-toned red lipstick backstage at Oscar de la Renta. But that’s not to say fair complexions can’t dabble with this hot-tomato hue. For the color-cautious, err more on the side of red than orange and layer up to create a hue that’s comfortable for you.

The AQUAMARINE EYE

It may be a perennially under-used shade in the beauty palette, but cobalt blue can work for all eye colors. While a shock of blue across the lid certainly requires a confident wearer, take inspiration from makeup artist Daniel Martin, who created this look for Tadashi Shoji’s autumn/winter show. Go modern with your liner by forgoing classic blacks and browns, and instead opt for an eye-enhancing navy. We’d advise that, if you’re attempting a statement azure eye, keep skin luminous, brows lightly groomed and use a chocolate-toned mascara into the roots of the lash for subtle definition without looking overly done.
