Discover Gabriela Hearst’s Pioneering New Denim Collection
The New York-based brand reaffirms its steadfast commitment to lasting luxury with a colorful and consciously crafted denim collection. By EANNA MORRISON BARRS
Gabriela Hearst is a designer who has championed the use of lower-impact materials, responsible craftsmanship and circularity since the inception of her eponymous label in 2015. Rooted in a deep respect for the environment and inspired by her upbringing on her family’s ranch in Uruguay, the brand seamlessly blends ethics with aesthetics – an approach that has earned her numerous accolades, including being named the American Womenswear Designer of the Year at the 2020 CFDA Fashion Awards and being recognized as an honoree of the 2024 TIME Earth Awards.
“Each design boasts impeccable construction and classic shapes with endless styling potential
”
For pre-fall 2025, Hearst reaffirms her steadfast commitment to lasting luxury with a pioneering new denim collection that uses recycled cotton and is part of our NET SUSTAIN edit of consciously crafted pieces. Designed to be worn with everything, from a humble white T-shirt to a tailored blazer and heels, these denim pieces are true wardrobe essentials. The collection includes the ‘Willa’ long bootcut jeans, the ‘Ezra’ cropped bootcut style, the ‘Rey’ straight-leg silhouette (all of which have custom wood-inlaid brass buttons at the waist that can be removed for machine washing), and the ‘Bronte’ jacket. Each design boasts impeccable construction and classic shapes with endless styling potential.
Given the designer’s long-standing mission to reduce fashion’s environmental impact, it’s no surprise she would work with denim next. According to the United Nations Environment Programme, it takes 3,781 liters of water to produce a single pair of jeans. By opting for recycled cotton over virgin cotton, the brand’s denim capsule helps to reduce waste and conserve natural resources typically consumed during production, without compromising quality or craftsmanship.
“Whether worn together or styled with neutrals, there’s no doubt that Gabriela Hearst’s bold shades will enliven your look
”
The new jeans arrive in a richly saturated color palette of ‘Antelope Orange’, ‘Burnt Sienna’, ‘Cobalt Blue’ and ‘Golden Birch’, in addition to a timeless mid-blue wash and crisp white. These vibrant hues were inspired by a colorful array of pigments that are often used in traditional Spanish house paints, and were originally gifted to Hearst by filmmaker Clara Cullen, who was also the creative force behind the brand’s Resort 2025 campaign.
For those who love a monochrome look, there’s good news: the capsule’s color palette extends into Gabriela Hearst’s knitwear and accessories, too. Trusted staples such as the ‘Cinxia’ tank top and ‘Aiste’ cardigan – both crafted from luxurious blends of natural fibers, including cashmere, silk and hemp – are the perfect complement to the denim pieces. Footwear also follows suit, with the brand’s ‘Ohio’ sneakers – first launched last year with water-based glue and recycled rubber soles – and ‘Luke’ high-heeled boots available in matching shades.
Whether worn together or styled with neutrals, there’s no doubt that Gabriela Hearst’s bold shades will enliven your looks. They’re a refreshing shift from the muted tones that have dominated the runway in recent seasons. A pop of ‘Burnt Sienna’ or ‘Cobalt Blue’ might just be the unexpected yet undeniably chic combination your wardrobe has been missing.
