At London Fashion Week, anything goes when it comes to style. Whether you clash colors, textures, prints – or a mix of all three – the only rule is to have a little fun with your outfits. Inevitably, the changeable weather in the capital calls for some level of practicality (read: layers), but never at the expense of experimentation. The street-style set are pros at mixing offbeat separates with classic heritage silhouettes, whether it’s a trench coat layered over a vintage slip dress or a waxed jacket paired with tailoring.

“London Fashion Week is all about being bold and adventurous,” says NET-A-PORTER’s buying manager, Rachel Nimmo. “I’ll start my looks for the shows this weekend with a staple like denim and build from there. I love the subtle embroidery on Erdem’s jeans, which works perfectly with Jil Sander’s floral-jacquard shirt. Color-pop accessories, like these chartreuse satin mules by Victoria Beckham and JW Anderson’s tomato-red suede tote, are a great way to round off any look with denim as the base, elevating it into something a little more special,” she adds.

Few people embody British style better than model, writer and muse Alexa Chung. Regardless of the event she’s attending, there’s always a touch of irreverence and ease to her outfits. Emulate Chung’s go-to styling trick by throwing a leather jacket over all your off-duty looks. Róhe’s version comes in a relaxed, oversized shape and will make everything you pair it with feel infinitely cooler.

Alternatively, get dressed up for your next dinner party or Fashion Week event with a sleek midi skirt. Crafted from cotton-blend matelassé, Cecilie Bahnsen’s style is the perfect way to embrace the season’s ornate textures. It works perfectly with camisoles, bandeaus and bralettes, but looks particularly chic and effortless styled with knitwear, like Simone Rocha’s bead-embellished sweater. Lift the moody palette with Toteme’s burgundy patent-leather pumps and Completedworks’ vibrant red ‘Weeping Willow’ earrings, adding a touch of old-school elegance via Erdem’s exquisitely crafted ‘Bloom’ bag.
