Winter weather provides the perfect excuse – as if we needed one – to break out the knee-highs…

When it comes to winter-footwear trends, there’s one style in particular that the fashion set relies on for instantly chic results: knee-high boots. A non-negotiable if you want to see the colder months out in style, this season’s cohort comes in many guises, from flat equestrian riders to high block heels.

The perfect underpinning for both mini and midi hemlines, tall, block-heeled boots are the most classic of the bunch and therefore the most versatile. Aquazzura’s ‘Sellier’ boots come in glossy croc-effect leather that’s perfect for adding texture to pared-back separates. Bally’s ‘Enilda’ boots, meanwhile, have a chunkier heel and wingtip perforations usually found on classic brogues. Embrace the equestrian feel by wearing them with jodhpurs, or pair with a pleated midi skirt. If heeled knee-highs make you feel a little too dressed up for everyday wear, there are plenty of flat alternatives to choose from this season. Khaite’s ‘Colt’ pair is inspired by traditional riding boots and was styled with multiple looks on the fall/winter ’25 runway.

There’s nothing like slipping on a sharp pair of power boots to lift the spirits on a cold and gloomy winter’s day (as long as it’s not snowing or icy, of course). This season’s stiletto-heeled knee-highs are perfect for adding polish to your cozy winter wardrobe. Paris Texas’s pair is crafted from glossy patent leather and come in a classic black that works in any sartorial situation. Alternatively, if you prefer a matte finish, Staud’s ‘Sebastian’ iteration is the perfect choice.
