I wake up around 6:30am and drink lemon water

About 15 minutes after that, I drink cold-pressed celery juice. Then I wait a little longer before eating breakfast with my family. I’ve been doing a Medical Medium morning food routine [created by wellness expert Anthony William] for six months now, and it makes me feel good. I’m trying to get all my friends into it, too. I learned about Anthony William from Miranda Kerr and I’ve bought all of his books. The routine is really good for skin, but I mainly do it for the health benefits.

I’ve been using the same skincare products for years

Every morning, I wash my face with Ole Henriksen Truth Juice Daily Cleanser, then I apply Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant to tone and prep skin. I like a dewy base before I apply my makeup, so I use Augustinus Bader’s The Serum. I love how rich it is and how it makes my skin glow. I also rotate between Clé De Peau Beauté Enhancing Eye Contour Cream Supreme and Ole Henriksen’s Banana Bright + Eye Crème. I finish with Supergoop!’s Glowscreen, which has an SPF30 and also adds more glow to my skin. I use it every day, as I live in Montecito, California, where it’s always sunny – and because I’m outside a lot.

My makeup routine is very simple

It takes me less than five minutes to do. I’ve been using Clé de Peau Beauté Radiant Corrector For Eyes for the past 20 years. I think it’s the best concealer on the market. I add a little bit under my eyes – not too much but just enough to look fresh. My next step is a bronzer. I love the shimmer of Tom Ford Beauty’s Soleil Glow Bronzer and I apply it to the areas where I look a little sun-kissed. Chanel’s Baume Essentiel Multi-Use Glow Sticks, in Golden Light and Transparent, are great for cheeks – plus a bit on the nose to add even more glow. I then finish with black mascara. If I want a little extra on my eyes, I’ll use Hourglass’s Voyeur Waterproof Gel Eyeliner, in a shimmery shade of brown, first.

I never wear a bright lip

A couple of years ago, I did a shoot with Helena Christensen, when she was the face of our brand, and she dared me to wear a red lip – so I did it; and I felt so uncomfortable. Most people can wear it, but for me, it’s not good. I would rather go full-on with a smoky eye. Everything I normally wear on my lips is very fresh and pink-toned, like La Bouche Rouge’s Pink Balm. It’s the same when it comes to my blush – it needs to just feel fresh.

A cold shower wakes me up in the morning…

…and it’s supposed to be healthy for many reasons. I haven’t lived in Denmark since I was a kid but, when I go back there in the winter, I sometimes jump in the ocean. It’s super-cold but it feels amazing. You get a high afterwards because it’s so fresh.

Rose is my favorite scent

In my garden, I have a lot of roses and trees – and beautiful nature in general – so it feels very natural here. Santa Barbara [County] is also a very spiritual place, so I wanted to create a fragrance that embodies all of this – and that’s Rose Wood, my newest fragrance (available March 30). We created it during lockdown – I couldn’t travel to the designer, so we had to send samples back and forth, and it’s ended up being the most beautiful perfume and is my hero product right now.

On a bad face day…

…I put 111Skin’s Celestial Black Diamond Lifting and Firming sheet mask in the fridge to cool it down before I use it. Afterwards, I apply a thick layer of Weleda’s Skin Food. My dad used to work for Weleda and we only had these products in our house when I was growing up, so Skin Food has been part of my beauty routine for a long time. When I put it on, it really adds an instant glow. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to wear it all over your face – my skin almost looks fake because it’s so shiny and glowy – but I like it. Then, I add a bit of my Clé de Peau Beauté under eye concealer and I use the RéVive Contouring Massage Roller to make my face come alive – but, other than that, I’ll just let my skin breathe. I also make sure to drink lots of water.

When traveling, I bring my own snacks

I don’t eat airplane food. It’s not a health thing, as I eat way too much sugar, but I like to bring a mix of healthy snacks and Danish and Swedish candies, and snack my way through the flight. When I travel, I also stock my makeup bag with lots of sheet masks. I’ll do them every morning when I wake up because you tend to get a little puffy right after a flight. I also always take my collagen powder – by Norwegian brand Oslo Skin Lab – when I travel. I have been taking it every day at home, too – for over two years now. I can see a difference in my skin: more glow and fewer fine lines.

I take little moments throughout the day to feel grounded

I’m trying to find a better balance between running my company and being a mom. Even if it’s just 10 minutes of meditation or a short walk, it helps. Otherwise, I’d sit on my computer screen all day. I also play my guitar, which I have in my office – it helps me to calm down. I learned to play when I was 13 and I still love writing songs. It’s like therapy for me.

I wash my hair once a week..

…or sometimes more, if I have a shoot and need to look fresh. I love using Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo in between washes. Most days I won’t style my hair, I’ll just pull it back into a bun. It’s easy and low-maintenance.

My bedtime is between 9 and 10pm every night

I know it’s early, but I’m so exhausted after a long day with work and kids. Getting plenty of sleep works wonders on your skin – and on how you feel and look in general. I have a ‘no phones in the bedroom’ rule because, when my husband travels and is away, I tend to scroll through my phone and, before I know it, it’s 11pm – so I have to leave my phone outside the bedroom. Then, to fall asleep, I’ll have a cup of lemon-balm or nettle tea, which is very healing and calming. I’ll also read a little, and that will do it for me.
