Hailey Bieber is renowned for her coolly minimalist sense of style, and Wardrobe.NYC is loved for its easy-luxe aesthetic – so, it’s no wonder the model is a major fan of the New York-based brand. Now, she’s gone one step further by joining forces with the label’s founders, Josh Goot and Christine Centenera, to create a capsule of versatile essentials that beautifully espouse their sleek signatures.

“I’ve known Christine [Centenera] for a while and always enjoyed working with her, and I love her styling. At the beginning, she and I got into a discussion about working together on something and ended on it being a Wardrobe.NYC collection,” explains Bieber, who first met the stylist and brand co-founder when Centenera styled her for a Vogue Australia cover shoot back in 2019. Evidently, the pair really hit it off, with Bieber saying, “I love how like-minded we are when it comes to fashion and styling. I feel like she really gets me and my aesthetic, and I think I really get hers. She’s also just the loveliest person to work with.”

Of course, with very busy schedules to juggle alongside designing the collection, Centenera explains that it was a case of working globally for it all to come to fruition: “For the majority of the process, we were between Sydney, New York, LA, Canada and Europe.” The final result echoes its international foundations and is a seasonless, easy-to-mix-and-match, tightly edited collection in a strictly black and beige color palette – ideal for those who travel often.

“Hailey was very clear from the outset about what she wanted, and she knows exactly how she likes things to look, feel and fit – which is great from a design point of view,” says Centenera, adding that “her innate sense of style and proportion add to the creative process”. Indeed, Bieber’s influence is evident in the sharp shoulders, cropped silhouettes and the sensual, second-skin fits, balanced with looser, laid-back tailoring.

“For me, the inspiration was just what I consider to be my forever go-to essentials; things that will always be chic and never go out of style,” says Bieber. “I love having the creative freedom to design and be in control of the shapes and proportions of each piece. It was such a fun process and I’d love to do more,” she adds, perhaps hinting at future stints in the design studio.

While the collection is a clear extension of Bieber’s aesthetic, blended with Wardrobe.NYC’s distinct DNA, she was eager to experiment beyond her comfort zone, too. “I want it to really feel like me, with a bit more elevation in the shapes… I’m really excited about it all, and each piece can be styled so many ways – for example, the blazer can be dressed up or can be more casual, and I feel like that’s the story with every piece. You can style any of them to be more dressy or more casual.”

Follow Bieber’s advice and try the one-shoulder dress with flat chunky boots for a laid-back look, or dress it up with heels and the oversized blazer. Similarly, you can pair the sweater with the slit-hem pants and pumps, or the tailored pants with the tank top for elevated comfort. Endlessly wearable and infinitely chic, this capsule is sure to help eliminate the ‘what shall I wear today?’ dilemma.
