There’s no debating the timelessness of a leather jacket – it’s been the ultimate cool-girl staple for decades, after all. Thanks to brands delivering an array of new, souped-up styles on the FW25 runways, it feels like more than just an everyday essential – it’s a major fashion statement. Saint Laurent, for example, sent not one, not two, but eleven leather jackets down the runway in Paris, either cinched at the waist or shrugged on over voluminous evening gowns, including this oversized aviator style in pebbled brown leather. Designed in a slouchy, double-breasted shape, it echoes ’80s styles in the coolest way and adds heaps of attitude to your look. Embrace the brand’s Left Bank elegance by wearing it to dinner with a mini skirt, sheer black tights and kitten heels.

As for accessories, top-handle bags are the silhouette of the season – think structured, ’50s-inspired styles with modern accents. From our NET SUSTAIN edit and crafted in Italy using lower-impact materials, Savette’s ‘Symmetry Pochette’ comes in an elongated silhouette that adds dimension to slouchy tailoring and relaxed denim alike. Try matching your jewelry to the bag’s silver hardware to tie your outfit together.

FW25 also marks the return of the statement knit, with brands embracing bold patterns, artisanal details and uniquely draped silhouettes. Easily one of the most memorable pieces from the February shows is Khaite’s ‘Anders’ sweater, spun from exquisitely soft cashmere with a classic argyle pattern. Inspired by the cinematic world of David Lynch, it’s giving Twin Peaks meets British countryside chic.

“Equestrian references were woven throughout the FW25 collections – from jodhpurs and riding boots to plaid tailoring and classic argyle knits, like those seen at Khaite. The brand’s ‘Anders’ sweater, styled with red leather and faux fur on the runway, was one of my highlights,” says NET-A-PORTER’s buying editor, Abbi Minchin. “For me, the easiest way to style most knitwear is with denim, and I think this looks perfect with Agolde’s ‘Harper’ jeans from our NET SUSTAIN edit. While the weather is still slightly too warm for faux fur, a trans-seasonal leather jacket is the perfect alternative. I may even brave a heel after so long in flats, as – spoiler alert – they are back,” she adds. To take your look to the next level, finish with Bottega Veneta’s burgundy ‘Lauren 1980’ clutch and sculptural silver earrings by Sophie Buhai.
