To say we were excited to learn that Alighieri – the cult jewelry line inspired by Dante’s Divine Comedy and beloved by fashion insiders – was turning its Midas touch to footwear would be an understatement. Thankfully, the finished products do not disappoint. A long-time fan of the espadrille, founder and creative director Rosh Mahtani had hers crafted by the very same Spanish atelier that produced the quintessential summer shoe for Salvador Dalí. Finished with silk ribbons and detachable gold and glass stones, the sandals resemble works of art. But don’t be fooled into thinking they’re all style over substance – try them with midi dresses, jeans, shorts or wide-leg pants, and you’ll find they work with them all.
