Romance was in the air at the spring/summer 2026 shows, with brands presenting heirloom-worthy textures and silhouettes evocative of vintage underpinnings on the runway. Delicate, lingerie-inspired lace set the mood, adding softness and a boudoir-like sensibility to ’30s-era slip dresses at Tom Ford and Ferragamo, sheer pencil skirts at Valentino Garavani and ruffled satin teddies at Chloé. Away from the runway, you’ll find plenty of on-screen inspiration too – Michelle Pfeiffer’s flowing lingerie set in Scarface and Keira Knightley’s pearlescent chemise in Atonement are not only iconic, but perfectly on point this season.

Kate Moss put a darkly romantic spin on the trend when she attended the Saint Laurent couture show earlier this year. The supermodel arrived wearing a lace-trimmed camisole, which she offset with leather and shearling for a sexier take. Embrace her look by styling Chloé’s bias-cut midi dress with Alaïa’s glossy patent-leather heels, adding Khaite’s ‘Donna’ clutch and a vampy red lip. Alternatively, slip Dolce&Gabbana’s Chantilly lace blouse underneath an oversized leather jacket for dinner dates or late-night drinks, matching your manicure to the burgundy shade.

“Lace is having a moment and I’m here for it. I’ve always loved slip dresses and camisoles. They have that effortless, understated feel that nods to ’90s minimalism while still feeling modern,” says NET-A-PORTER’s shopping editor, Viktorija Tomasevic. “I would style a lace-trimmed cami with tailored pants and a blazer for the office, then switch to a pencil skirt and heeled pumps for date night – simple yet chic.”

Although this may seem like a trend reserved solely for evening, it can easily be incorporated into everyday looks, too. Róhe’s elegant slip skirt looks so chic paired with an oversized shirt or blazer for the office or a casual tee and loafers on weekends. Complement the vintage feel with Sophie Bille Brahe’s minimal ‘Petite Peggy’ necklace – the graduated pearls shine beautifully against bare skin. Elsewhere, Saint Laurent’s ribbed tank is the perfect way to zhuzh up off-duty denim.
