Sportswear, but make it fashion
Victoria Beckham and Reebok have joined forces for the second season running. Get set for your workout wardrobe to be transformed
Don’t you love it when two of your favorite brands come together? Especially when the pairing is brilliantly unexpected. Case in point: London designer Victoria Beckham and heritage sportswear label Reebok. “Reebok was a part of street culture when I was a teenager, and so I’ve always felt a connection to the brand,” says Beckham on why the partnership felt like such a good fit. “What I love is that it has British heritage – it feels good to be working with a brand that has the same roots as my own in a way.”
What makes it work is the brilliant mix of expertise that each brings to the table; Reebok has been a sportswear pioneer for over 50 years, and is a game changer when it comes to helping you to run faster and workout better. Victoria Beckham, meanwhile, has earned a global following over the past decade with her eponymous label for her elegant take on modern luxury – all sophisticated shapes and elegant polish. It helps, too, that working out is one of her passions, and the collaboration is designed in part to serves the needs of her own wardrobe. “I’ve always struggled to find high-performance clothing that doesn’t compromise on style, so that’s what I wanted to create,” she says. “The idea that these pieces don’t compromise is key for me. They should take you from your morning routine, to the gym and beyond – and make you feel good while doing so.”
“Fluoro and reflective details make me think of nighttime runs through the city. Outerwear pieces reflect the unisex feel of the SS19 collection, and these are balanced with the more feminine, light, dance performancewear

FW19 marks the second collection from the pairing, cementing its signatures and codes – from the understated color palette to the slick high-fashion-inspired design details. The first offering riffed on the ’90s (“For me, no other sportswear brand says ’90s like Reebok does,” says Beckham) and the new collection continues the theme, throwing some ’80s dance-inspired references into the mix, too. “This is elevated sportswear,” says Beckham. “And this season the themes of dance and run are key, both of which are core elements of my daily workout. I trained as a dancer so there are lots of nods to late ’80s/early ’90s workout wear, which I love.” That means ballet-pink pleated skirts and cropped tops that verge on the pretty – not a word often associated with workoutwear – offset by ultra-cool unisex outerwear, hooded jackets and khaki shells that are too good to save for outings to the gym. There are flashes of fluoro, too, on the sneakers inspired by Beckham’s after-dark runs. “The pieces in this collection are designed for a woman who wants to feel the best that she can,” says Beckham.
