“Spring/summer ’24 is all about wearability – from extraordinary everyday pieces to romantic styles and those with preppy undertones,” says NET-A-PORTER’s junior market editor Abbi Minchin. One trend to emerge from the shows that’s particularly easy to get behind is the ‘chic sportif’ look. “It encapsulates everything from track jackets and jersey dresses to belt bags, sneakers and – unexpectedly – jelly shoes,” adds Minchin. Another key piece? The polo shirt.

While there were plenty of preppy polos in bright, primary hues and vivid patterns on the runways – notably at Dries Van Noten and Loewe – neutral shades promise maximum versatility. “Nili Lotan’s cashmere option is an easy way to incorporate the trend into your current wardrobe,” says Minchin of the New York brand’s ivory polo shirt. When it comes to styling, Minchin advises layering it under a V-neck sweater and trench coat, looking to The Row for the latter. The brand’s ‘June’ trench is tailored with all the hallmarks of this cult classic and comes in a loose fit for a more relaxed silhouette.
Minchin names wide-leg pants and sneakers as her dream pairings to complete the look, but you could also dress things up with Tom Ford’s croc-effect skirt and Burberry’s glossed-leather pumps. Sunglasses, however, are a non-negotiable. “Currently, the sun is fighting to peek through the clouds in London, but I plan to wear sunnies regardless as we approach spring,” says Minchin. “I love Prada Eyewear’s D-frame shape.”

A gold chain glistening beneath the polo’s collar, plus a ring stack from By Pariah – exclusively available at NET-A-PORTER and made using 100% recycled metals – add a luxe spin to sporty polos. Complement the ring’s pale-pink gemstones with a skinny French manicure.
Lastly, take a leaf out of Grece Ghanem’s book. The Instagram sensation revealed to PORTER that she never leaves home without a liberal spitz of her signature Tom Ford Beauty scent. Described by the Texan designer himself as a “seductive indulgence” that captures a meditative feeling, the Ébène Fumé eau de parfum is housed in a private-blend bottle and evokes the calming essence of palo santo with woody notes.
