As lockdown measures ease in some parts of the world, deciding what pieces we want to invest in going forward has been a topic of discussion among the PORTER fashion team this week. Ultimately, we’re seeking high-quality pieces that are true to our personal style – and therefore make us look and feel our very best – that we can cherish for years to come.

Fashion assistant Sabina Khan, for instance, has her sights set on some timeless tailoring: “When it comes to effortless, elevated dressing, where else do you turn but to The Row? Once again, for SS20, the brand has worked its magic on yet another classic collection with just the right dose of newness. I must admit, I’ve not been one to dress up during lockdown (yay, sweats), but I have days where I need that feeling of refinement to feed the fashion lover in me. This crisp, oversized shirt (worn untucked, of course), paired with loosely tailored pants will do just the trick. To be honest, at home I’ll probably keep the look at maximum comfort level with the shirt styled open over a white T-shirt and cycling shorts (Zoom calls are from the waist up, after all). Back at the office, I’ll amp it up with some pumps, gold jewelry and a statement bag – perfect, long-lasting pieces to wear throughout and post-lockdown.”

With longevity on our minds, it’s important to consider how we can give back as we move forward, too. Over the past few months, it’s been admirable to see many of our favorite designers engaging in philanthropic endeavors, from Anya Hindmarch’s reusable PPE gowns to Alighieri’s support of British food banks. Now, NET-A-PORTER has teamed up with New York-based designer Gabriela Hearst to help support the brilliant relief efforts of Save the Children’s Global Coronavirus Response Fund. The ‘new normal’ we face post-lockdown is having a significant impact on vulnerable children – be it due to school closures, loss of family income or social limitations – so for three weeks, from June 29 to July 19, NET-A-PORTER is exclusively stocking Hearst’s latest collection of handbags, with 10 percent of the sale profits being donated to the charity, and Gabriela Hearst matching the donation*. The sleek ‘Diana’ tote (pictured), with its sculptural accordion pleats, is just one style available now.
