New York Fashion Week is in full swing and we’re celebrating the designers who are continuing to promote NYC’s status as a paragon of style. One such designer is Gabriela Hearst, whose eponymous brand is inspired by the vibrancy of growing up on a ranch in Uruguay, and the refinement of her life in New York City. Hearst’s ‘Miller’ sweater perfectly embodies the brand’s aesthetic – crafted from ultra-warm cashmere cut in a slim-fit silhouette, it features a playful tie-dye print and is ideal for adding color to your winter wardrobe. Style it with the matching skirt and black knee-high boots, or temper the bold, fiery hues with Dion Lee’s camel-colored cargo pants and heeled sandals.

If you prefer a classic black dress for a night out, consider The Row’s elegant ‘Teresina’ dress, says NET-A-PORTER’s shopping assistant Connie Parkinson. “The Row has mastered effortless cool,” she says. “I look to this New York-based fashion house when I want to invest in pieces that will last me for many seasons to come. I adore this off-the-shoulder maxi dress because the ultra-flattering neckline leaves plenty of scope for layering up your favorite jewelry. To keep it more low-key, pair with slinky mules, add a ’90s-inspired shoulder bag and you’re all set for dinner and drinks.”

When curating your handbag collection, look to Proenza Schouler and Khaite for an elevated take on your hard-working staples. Khaite’s ‘Lotus’ style offers a chic upgrade on the everyday tote. It is roomy enough for a laptop and workday essentials, while the sculptural shape seamlessly transitions between a weekly commute and a weekend lunch date. Meanwhile, Proenza Schouler’s ‘Dia’ will go with just about anything in your closet. This classic black shoulder bag is punctuated with gold accents, which add a dressed-up feel to its minimal design; for formal occasions, just remove the strap and carry it as a clutch.
