A curated roundup of the best new fashion arrivals, hand-picked by our editors
If you’ve already broken your New Year’s resolution to work out more, don’t panic – there is plenty of sartorial inspiration this season to help you get back on track, or at least look the part. “Retro sportswear has been reimagined by the likes of Saint Laurent, Tibi and Dries Van Noten with ’80s-style windbreakers and logo shorts making a serious comeback,” says NET-A-PORTER’s junior shopping editor, Millie Parry. So, consider this your cue to add elevated sportswear staples to your new-season closet, even if you have no interest in stepping foot inside a gym. Trust us, your outfits will be all the cooler for it.
Track jackets are without a doubt the star of the show here, and a lot more versatile than you might think. Not convinced? Look to supermodel Liya Kebede, who was photographed at fashion week looking effortlessly chic in one by Wales Bonner, worn with tailored cargo pants and loafers. If you’re heading out for dinner or drinks, try styling Saint Laurent’s striped jacket with black leggings and a kitten heel, adding Bottega Veneta’s gold-plated earrings from our NET SUSTAIN edit for a touch more polish. Alternatively, swap your heels for ankle socks and performance sneakers if you really are heading to a class. Pop your headphones and water bottle inside Gucci’s ‘Giglio’ tote (a style big enough to carry all your everyday essentials and then some), throw on a pair of sunglasses, and you’re good to go.
“I would style Tibi’s cobalt-blue track pants with an oversized coat, Prada Eyewear’s aviators and a large slouchy tote,” says Parry. “That considered balance between sportswear and tailoring creates an effortlessly chic look that I love,” she adds. Made from wrinkle-resistant nylon with an elasticated waist and snap-fastening sides, these pants are perfect for traveling or gallery-hopping, and easy to pair with pretty much anything. Wear them at the weekend with Dries Van Noten’s cult leather-trimmed suede sneakers for an extra pop of color and Saint Laurent’s baseball cap in brushed cashmere.
