Istanbul-based label Lug Von Siga – an anagram of designer Gul Agis’s name – celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The homegrown brand, fêted for its focus on quality and craft, debuted its SS20 collection in the enchanting grounds of the Palazzo di Venezia in Beyoğlu – and it did not disappoint. Inspired by Agis’s love of Shakespeare, particularly The Merchant of Venice, her ethereal gowns are elegant and otherworldly, yet also remarkably modern. In fact, it is their versatility that caught the eye of PORTER’s senior fashion assistant Kristen Neillie, who fell for Lug Von Siga’s voluminous black design when it landed on site this week.
“I’ve been dreaming about this gorgeous summer dress by Lug Von Siga since I first discovered it at a photoshoot back in March. Its romantic silhouette and effortless charm make it a welcome addition to any summer closet. I particularly love the puff sleeves, delicate lace details and the lightweight fabric – the perfect choice for balmy summer evenings. Whether I’m dressing for a picnic in the park, a backyard barbecue or a stroll through the countryside, I can't wait to take this beauty out to play. Needless to say, if I do manage to get away on vacation this summer, this will be the first piece I pack.”
Pieces that work in multiple settings and for numerous occasions are wise investments while your summer-vacation plans may still be uncertain. Take 3.1 Phillip Lim’s paperbag-waist shorts: cut from a striking mustard hue and finished with utilitarian top stitching, they look just as good layered over Hunza G’s graphic bikini as they do paired with a crisp cotton shirt.
Of course, accessories are another reliable way to inject your look with a sense of wanderlust. Whether you’re drawn towards a luxe leather-lined basket bag courtesy of Hunting Season, Bottega Veneta’s woven hoop earrings or Cult Gaia’s embellished mules, let these mood-enhancing pieces transport you to a sunnier state of mind.
